Web Awards Judging Panel Named
Talented judges bring diverse backgrounds to marine Web site awards program.January 23rd 2008
SEATTLE—Boats.com and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) today released the names of the judges for the 2008 North American Marine Industry Web Awards. Judges selected for the 2008 Web Awards include: Larry Rains, Sharon Davison, Sue Garibaldi, and Fernando Regueiro.
Larry Rains is the marketing manager for Boats.com and its sister Website, YachtWorld.com. Rains moved to Seattle from Brazil, owned and operated an independent Web design firm, and has extensive experience working in advertising. A boating enthusiast, Rains is a member of the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle.
With a Ph.D. in ergonomics/human factors and a specialty in human-computer interaction, Sharon Davison serves as an adjunct professor at Seattle University teaching design interface courses to engineering and computer science students. Davison also owns and operates Red Sky Blue Water, a professional services organization specializing in Web and application design, development, usability, corporate events and business consulting. She possesses a passion for sailing and holds a 50-ton master’s license.
Sue Garibaldi is the tech editor at Menlo Park, Calif.-based Communication Arts Magazine. Since 1999, her primary role as the editor of Commarts.com has allowed her to keep tabs on countless Web projects (about 400 per month) created by talented multimedia studios around the world. Staying informed about all of the remarkable work being produced is something she considers a perk of the job. During his seven-year tenure as the director of Internet services for NMMA, Fernando Regueiro has lead the team responsible for the development and maintenance of more than 45 Websites under the NMMA umbrella. Regueiro also directly manages the development and coordination of online strategies for the largest marine industry initiative, Grow Boating.
Debra Keene Bergeron, general manager for Boats.com, will present winners with a trophy designed by Tony Castro, one of the world’s leading yacht designers, during the 2008 Miami International Boat Show Media Breakfast. The media breakfast will be held Thursday, February 14 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
In recognition of the industry’s drive toward higher standards of excellence in Website design and content, Boats.com and NMMA launched the Marine Industry Web Awards in 2004. Categories include: Best OEM/Manufacturer Site, Best Marine Equipment Site, Best Dealer/Broker Site and Best Marine Site Overall.
