img2335Europewide distributor, Opal Marine, has announced the launch of the new
Island Packet 370 – a notable evolution from America’s leading cruising
yacht manufacturer.

Designed by Bob Johnson, Naval Architect and Chief Executive of Island
Packet Yachts, the 370 has an overall length of 37’10″ with a generous
13’1″ beam. Given a displacement of approx. 21,000 lbs and a sail area of
up to 814 sq ft, the Island Packet 370 provides the superior seakeeping,
safety and stability which combine to give the characteristic comfort of
the Island Packet range.

The new yacht has a refined keel shape and higher aspect ratio rig which
allows the Island Packet 370 increased performance and speed for faster
passage making. A new rudder geometry also provides enhanced control both
under sail and power.

img2333Accommodation features include the popular island berths in both fore and
aft cabins, which provide exceptional storage in the underlockers and a
wider sleeping area. The aft stateroom offers the large double berth
configured to facilitate access from either side and a multi-use desk area
for use as a vanity, work/office area, or full nav station. A swivel seat
rotates out from the desk area at the touch of a switch.

A new optional interior selection is available on the 370. This ‘Plus
Package’ upgrades virtually every surface in the interior, beginning with
the addition of a furniture-quality satin varnish finish to all bulkheads
and cabinetry (in lieu of oil).

img2332Also part of this package is a new bevel-plank hardwood sole of tongue and
groove teak alternating with narrower white oak strips which can replacing
the standard teak and holly veneer. Corian surfaces in the head and
galley with Ocean Air built-in sun shades on all interior overhead
hatches, and other miscellaneous interior upgrades complete the package.

Commenting on the design, Bob Johnson, said “Outwardly, the new 370 has a
new look with a proportionately wider stern compared to prior Island
Packet models. This provides a number of benefits including added sail
carrying power, improved boat speed, more accommodation, equipment and
stowage, as well as room for a larger stern platform. Overall she is a
superb cruising yacht ”
