DUESSELDORF, Germany — The second entry in Azimut’s Open line of luxury yachts, the 86 S made its international debut at Duesseldorf boot 2004, according to a press release from the renowned builder. To celebrate the launch on January 18, Azimut hosted a cocktail party and a fashion show aboard the 86-footer.

Similar to the 68 S unveiled at the Genoa (Italy) Boat Show in 2003, the 86 S was constructed at the famed Viareggio shipyard. The yacht was designed by Stefano Righini. Interior design was handled by Carlo Galeazzi and Azimut’s in-house styling department.

The 86 S features carbon fiber and Kevlar composite construction. Arneson ASD 15 drives and surface propellers provided propulsion for the first model, which reportedly reached a top speed of 47 knots. Subsequent models will be offered with Hamilton hydrojet propulsion.
