MINNEAPOLIS — Watercraft World magazine has named the
Yamaha WaveRunner GP1200R its 2001 Watercraft of the Year. Introduced two years ago, the GP1200R is Kennesaw, Ga., manufacturer’s flagship high-performance personal watercraft. The model also earned Watercraft World’s 2001 Musclecraft of the Year award.

A Watercraft World review of the 155-horsepower GP1200R stated: “It combines the best handling abilities and power, and is capable of delivering them in all conditions without sacrific. The craft is virtually alone in its ability to excel in all conditions.”

The magazine review also praised the watercraft’s styling, graphics and ergonomics.

“This is the sixth time in nine years that a Yamaha WaveRunner has won this prestigious award,” said Steve Lawler, Yamaha WaterCraft Group’s public relations and racing manager. “We are proud of this honor and look forward to earning more in the years to come.”
