Wakeboard Association Approved Towboats

POLK CITY, Fla. — The American Wakeboard Association has approved 11 towboats for use in sanctioned competitions in 2002. The AWA is a sport division of USA Water Ski.

The following towboats have been approved for use in AWA-sanctioned tournaments: Cal Air Pro V and Cal Air XTS by Calabria; Avalanche and Typhoon by Centurion; Infinity Air by Infinity; Wakesetter by Malibu; X-Star by MasterCraft; Riders Edition, 22i Type R and 20 V by Tige; and Epic X22 by Toyota.

The approved tow boats passed six tests to qualify as “tournament-approved.” The AWA’s tow boat committee evaluated the boats on power and acceleration, handling and maneuverability, engineering, drivability, sound level and rider evaluations. By meeting these standards an approved wakeboard tow boat ensures riders, drivers and officials of optimum conditions in competitions.

Once approved their boats are approved, manufacturers are encouraged to actively participate in American Wakeboard Association sanctioned tournaments, including the AWA’s most prestigious event, the AWA USA Wakeboard Championships.
